How I recorded the songs:

First of all I program a MIDI file, with Cubase or Cakewalk, trying to respect the original song timing and instruments. It's a very hard work, but it's the best way if you play on your own, like me, without other musicians. Some parts have been transcribed using a Roland GI-10 Guitar-Midi interface.

After the MIDI base is ready I record the various audio tracks individually with Cubase.
To recreate the sinth sounds I use a mix of VSTi instruments & effects and some external modules (Yamaha TG55, Roland D-110, Ensoniq EVS-1).

For the guitar sounds I record the tracks with a Fender Stratocaster or a Cort (Telecaster like) plugged into an ADA MP2 Preamp, Yamaha SPX-990 Multi effect processor, Marshall Valvstate 8008 Power Amplifier and 2 Marshall 1922 speaker cabinets.
I usually play the bass mixing MIDI bass and "real" guitar together (lowering the guitar pitch with Cubase).

Once the tracks are ready I mix everything in one stereo file and adjust the final EQ and compression with Wavelab.

Remember that this songs are covers. The sound is very different from the original ones...remember I like Metallica too!!!
I hope you like them anyway! It's only a way to keep alive a piece of history having fun playing and recording.

Special thanks to GGR & BIONIC and PIETRO for their Midi files and to my friend Silvano Bellina for his support and for lending me the following instruments:

- Yamaha TG-55 Tone Generator
- Roland D-110
- Ensoniq EVS-1
- Roland GI-10 Guitar-Midi interface

A very special thank to Alain Groetzinger, drummer of the Rockets, for all his support.
